OTAGO FARMERS' HORSE BAZAAR.

! The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association of New Zealand (Limited) report: We held our usual weekly sale at oui Horse Bazaar, adjoining our Wool and Grain Stores, -£rawfoidl and Vogel streets, on Saturday, | when wa had a splendid attendance of farmers, ' waggoners, town carriers, and traders. Buyers were present from Clinton, Balclutha, Waiwera, Milton, Peninsula, and Waitati, and i also the town contractors, all of whom cdm- j _ peted well for all suitable lota, and tho result 1 was a very, satisfactory clearance. Our entry , totalled 57 draught, vau, and spring dray ! horses, light harness and hackney geldings, , and, -with fh© exoeption of a very few, these horses) were all fresh from the country. Mr | John Shaw's consignment from Tmiaru met i with fair competition, and changed hands at j satisfactory prices. Mr Crother, of Oamaru, | brought forward a very nice lot of well-bred '. harness horses, but bidding was not so keen for them, and two or three were passed at the auction. Mr J. Hodgkins, of Omakaw, had also a very useful draft of harness horses, which replised good values. We may say that all the young, sound horses from the country were appreciated both by town and country buyers, and met a sale satisfactory to sellers and buyers. Heavj draughts were a shade easier, but clean, sharp, active geldiugs, suitj able for town work, were in good * demand. j Express horses were also well competed for. Spring-carters are still in good demand. Of this class jvc had again a short supply, and a good few could have been placed at fair j values. Haokneya, although nothing of a very j high giade was offered, met a good sale, and a good many changed hands at fair prices. There is a good demand for all classes of ! young, sound geldings suitable for lorry, van, anS spring dray, and also for a tfew bag geldings suitable for brick and metal carting. Values for the latter are a shade easier. ; Quotations: Hea.vy cart horses, £50 to £60; I plough mares and geldings, £40 to £50; clifty I van geldings, £38 to £44; spring dray horses ' about same price; spring-carters, real good sorts. 3 ctive, young', and sound, £25 to £34 ; xiseful hackneys, £18 to £25; buggy geldings, 1 with a good dash of action and quiet, £25 to ,' £30; buggy pa.irs, £-15 to £55; carriage pairs, I £60 to £100, according 1 to style aiM quality.
