THE S.R.C. MEETING.
The handicaps for the Southland Racing Club's summer meeting have made their appearance, and. as they have been compiled by the club's new handicapper, they will no doubt be scanned with additional interest. In the Invercargill Handicap, Juniper is set to give Flower o' Clutha 31b over 10 furlongs, so that tho mare meets the Occident horse on 131b better terms than when she was defeated by him over a mile at the last D.J.C. meeting. That reads slightly in favour of the mare, who is set to give De la Roy 91b. The latter finished tbird to tlie above pair, -when in receipt of 22ib over a mile, and, although ho showed attractive- form at Oamaru, still he does not read well treated in the light of his more recent form in Canterbury. There is, it is true, not much difference in the handicapping of Flower o' Clutha and De la Rey for Invercargill and Dunedin, but at the latter place the handicaps are framed on different material, and
both come in at the tail end of the handicaps, where, unless the weight-adjuster elects to crush the lop-weighls, there is net the opportunity of making a difference between horses which would otherwise b& made. In the light of his Winton form. Sirius does not look harshly treated, as, although he defeated nothing of any great note, still he demonstrated That h& was in form ; and Lolah appears to be well taken care of in being placed on the same mark, whilst she also roads badly treated through De la Rey. King's Guest has apparently had his solitary victoiy too highly e&timated, and is harshly treated in being s&t to give weight to Lady Soult in the Flying Handicap, in which race she reads the pick of the handicap.
