Betting on the Auckland Cup is livening up. Ghoorka was backed down to 5 to 1 and Romeo is in good demand. Mahutonga, who went back to 5 to 1 on Saturday, shortened a point to-day. The following prices are quoted to-night: — 7 to 2 agst Romeo (4's taken); 7 to 2 StsAshoot (ofered);
4 to 1 Mahutonga (offered) ; 4to 1 Ghoorka (s's taken) ; 5 lo 1 Melodeon (offered) ; 6to 1 Scotty (offered); 10 to 1 Idas (12's taken); 20 to 1 Gladstone (offered). Savoury is a strong favourite for the Railway Handicap.
