Attention is directed to an ' advertisement elsewhere in this issue respecting a.jnach'inefor poisoning rabbits. We are' assured that the "Fortescue great automatic patent, pollard distributor" is in great favour in Australia, where it has been in use by leading farmers and land owners during the past 12 months. Mr Hindle, who uintroducing the machine, undertakes to operate it where required, being able to poison from 400 to 500 .acres a day.
A meeting of the debenture-holders of the North Canterbury Farmers' Club was held at Bangiora on Friday last. There was an attendance of about 20. Mr F. Lance was in the chair. A plan of rooms proposed to be erected was submitted and"" a few alterations were suggested. After a long discussion on the . prospects of tho success of the club, on which there was divided opinion, it was decided to adjourn, until Tuesday week with a view of getting as large- a m-eetins; as possible to decide whether a section should be purchased and rooms erected. Agriculturists in the Wairarapa district complain that the outlook for this year's crops is very gioomv. The absence of sunshine has had the effect of almost stopping -he growth, and in addition to a very light yield of corn it is almost certain that the straw will be very short. The vaccination of calves in the Taranaki district, to guard against the spread of blackleg, is now compulsory. No calves van enter a saleyard or even be kept on a farm without bearing the 'Government brand. The auctioneers throtighout the district have placed their j'ards at the convenience of farmers and the Stock Department.
