Smith and Keenan put on a great spurt towr.rds the finish, and. having rowed s, very straight course, crossed the line winners by several lengths, the Wellington pair, who were half wpy over to the opposite sJaort, slowing down considerably before crossing. ' with a fine, steady stroke that soon drew them up into third place, the Wellington Rowing Club's representatives lying filth and the N.K.B.C. pair bringing up the rear six lengths away. This order remained unchanged for more than half the distance, and then IFGrath and Priest began to draw ahead of the C.B.C. pair, who had evidently done their best and dropped out of the race, their example being quickly followed by the W.R.C. pail.
