The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's winter meetjng commenced to-day. The weather \va3 fine in the morning, but rain fell during the afternoon. There was a good attendance, and the racing throughout the day was exceedingly good The sum of £4f«l was put through the totaliaator, b»ing £1115 less thin the amount on the first day last year. The attendance, howevtr, was good, and the finishes m several events were close. The sum of £4015 was put through ilia totalisators, making a total of £8045 for the two days, a. decrease of £2178 on last year's total. " The following are the results —
