MR. R. P. MACGOUN.
" Bluff Harbour." — An excellent presentation of a wellknown scene. The rough beach of the foreground, scattered freely over with rocks and boulders, calls for special commendation. The two vessels on the stocks, and the more distant ones lying at rest in the harbour, combine to present both a pleasing and a truthful picture, which is not wanting in human interest, though the man is only visible in his works. " Eastern End of Bluff Harbour Wharf " (see opposite page). — This is an attractive little picture, in which the boats and the piers of the wharf are admirably reflected in the still water of the harbour in the middle distance ; while in the foreground, the unfinished boat on the slip is extremely effective. The whole has a fine atmospheric effect, and excellent gradations of light and shade.
