Notes from Roxburgh.

(Fkoii Ovk Own Correspondent.) ROXBURGH, November 18. The weather has been squally all day, and is itill unsettled. A good steady rain is much needed. The river is keeping high. The Lady Roxburgh dredge is making good progress in her journey up the liver now, and is at about the bottom of the Teviot c".aim. The Moiyneux Kohinooi dredge has been closed down for a few days pending the arrival of some parts from Dunedm. This dredge got on to better waeh at the end of last week. The Teviot dredge is still working away, and her prospects are very good, I understand. November 2C. The river rose lft yesterday, but has gone down again a little to-day. The Jubilee dredge is being subjected to an overhaul this week, so that theie will bo no •wash-up. For a continuous nin of 17 weeks since starting this dredge has secured 13190z, valued at over £5000. The Rohinoor dredge will likely start again on Monday, when it is expected the new driving belt will be on hand. The manager of the Endeavour is preparing to give the dredge a good oveihaul while the ladder is being repaired. November 24. The weather has turned cold again, and this morning there was a coating of snow on the ranges. The river, which was up a good bit on Saturday, has now gone down again. The Teviot dredge has been shifted out from the west bank of the claim, where she ha 3 teen, working lately, as it has been found she is not capable of proper "y treating this ground with her present elevator, which is too short to stack the tailings to the height required. Repairing work on the Jubilee and Endeavour dredges is at present in hand. The Lady Roxburgh dredge should soon be on her claim now, as she has passed all obstacles on the river that were likely to retard her progress.
