His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. A. Parkf haying wired to the Mayor of Auckland mr quiring as to the position of the sufferers from the wreck of the Elingamite and as to the disbursement of and the necessity for relief funds, received the following reply on Friday:—"Glad to report immediate necessities being met satisfactorily. Several men have been helped to employment, and families settled. There are only two oases of extreme distress. Report to date estimates present requirements at a minimum of £1500." Mr Park adds that, of course, with the arising of further necessitous cases this minimum may be greatly exceeded ia requirement; therefore the necessity for aa largo contributions as possible is still urgent,
