TARANAKI v. THAMES. THAMES, August 26.

The match Taranaki v. Thames, played here to-day, resulted in a victory for the latter by 6 points to nil. The ground was wet and the ball slippery, but the game was fast and exciting. Some splendid forward rushes were made by both sides. The back play of the Thames was superior to that of the visitors. At hail-time there was no score. In the second half o. M'Lean kicked a penalty goal for the Thames. Kingham also scored a try, and the game ended: Thames, 6 points ; Taraoaki, nil. In the second spell the Thames kept Taranaki on the defence. Towards the end of the game Loveridge (Taranaki) and Bispham (Thames) were knocked out, the former by a severe kick on the knee. The visitors leave for Auckland to-night, and leave- for home tomorrow.

QUEENSLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES

BRISBANE, August 31

In the football match New South Wales v. Queensland the latter won by 16 points to 11.
