The Hon. Mr Bowen haa received furthef news of the Antarctio relief ship Morning. She calls at Madeira, and sail's direct far' Lyttehton, which port she is expected to •rrivo at in November. The instructions to Captain Colbeck are that after refitting and filling up with coals and provisions at Lyttelton lie is to sail for the ice in December, and proceed at once to Cape Adare and search for records at the various places. If the Discovery is found Cap.tain Colbeck is to assist to extricate her from her winter quarters, and then proceed as directed by, Captain Scott. If the Discovery has nofc wintered on the east coast of Victoria Land Captain Colbeck is to proceed eastward along the ice barrier to the place where he landed ~n February, 1900; It is the intention of Captain Soott to leave a. record here on the ice, if possible. Should! no sign of the Discovery be found on any part of the e<is*t coast of Yiotoria Land Captain Colbeck will probably conclude she has succeeded in penetrating unknown regions eastwards of 164 AY. meridian. In that oa3e the relief ship will not follow the Discovery. Captain Colbeck will not risk detention on the ice. but will make fo* Lyttelton and await instructions.
