HENLEY
August 13.— A concert and dai cc was held in the PMblic Hall on Friday night to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Dick and family, who are leaving the district. The chair was taken by Mr A Mitchell, who made a few suitable remarks. The concert was opened by the audience singing "God save the King." Miss M'Kegg then played an overture on the piano, and songs were gi\ en by Misses Grey, N. M'Kegg, Sandlin, and Messrs Snell, Thompson, Mitchell, Lawrence, M'Tagg, Brown, and Parsens. A pianoforte duet .wa? played very nicely by the Misses Grant. After the concert the hall was cleared for dancing, the music for which was supplied by Messrs Biown, Marten, Giey (violins), Thompson (piano), and W. Bruce (bagpipes). Mr W. Lawrence made a very efficient M.C. .During the evening Mr Thompson danced the Sailor's Hornpipe m coat time, and a soug was sung by Mr Meek. During the evening Mr Dick v/as presented with a purse cf sovereigns, and three ringing cheers weie heartily given for Mr and Mrs Dick, who were very popular in the district. Mr Dick is proceeding to Manaia, Taranaki, where he has taken a large farm.
