OBITUARY.

Mr Joseph Barrett, a very old resident of Tokomavriro, died at his residence on Friday morning, *t the age of 73 years. Deceased emigrated to Victoria when a youth, and after spending some time there came to New Zealand, landiug at Port Ohal-" Jmers in 1861. In company with the late Stephen Caudle, he started business at Wai!hola. The partners next established a bnc-c kiln in Tokomairiro, and later one at Milton. {Disposing of hia interest in the Milton business, Mr Barrett at different periods established kilns at Helen»brook acid Kaitaiigata. Of late years deceased had been in in- , different health. Ha leaves one son and five daughters and 13 grand-children.
