OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Thursday, and attended by Messrs Geo. Roberts (president, in the chair), George •MacEwan, T. T. Ritchie, J. W. Blair, W. iSouter, D. Andrew, R. Gawn, A. Todd, J. Lethbridge, J. Shiel, W. H. Taggait, W. Patrick, John Angus, J. Nimmo, W. J. Charters, James Patrick, Hon. T. Fergus. Apologies were received from Messrs A. Johnson, H. M. Driver, J. C. Gow, W. 31a<fkie, A. C. Stronach, H." Buckland, T. fMuir, and A. S. Orbell.
A considerable amount of correspondence •was considered and dealt with.
Mr W. F. M. Buckley wrote offering £3 Za as a special prize for the best thoroughbred stallion at the horse parade. — Received ■with thanks.
The Oamaru and Timaru A. and P. Associations wrote with rcferenco to show dates.
On the motion of Mr J. W. Blair, seconded by Mr W. J. Charters, it was unanimously decided to fix, as the dates for the forthcoming summer show, Thursday and Friday, November 17 and 28. It was resolved' to-- hold the annual hoise .parade at Tahuna Park on Thursday, October 2, 1902, and the judges to act in each section were nominated by the committee. Accounts for £157 19s 6d were passed for payment. The hon. treasurer laid on tli» table a statement of " receipts and expenditure in connection with the late winter show, which was considered very satisfactory. -
Ten new members of the society wera elected.
In the afternoon the president and members of the Grounds Committee, with the secretary, visited Tahuna Park with a view to arranging for necessary alterations to the rings, stalls, etc., and also to inspect various improvements that have been made on the show grounds. The site for the proposed grand stand was also inspected, and various details in connection wjth the erection of came were carefully considered. Before the committee' dispersed the President (Mr G. Roberts) thanked them for the attentions they had given to the business of the society, and hoped that they would shortly pay another visit of inspection to the park, thus greatly helping the executive officers in carrying out their work.
