ROXBURGH, July 22

The Long Valley dredge is stopped at present, awaking the amval from Dunedin of two new spur wheels for the elevator, the old ones having b'oken The elevator is als.o being extended five feet by a patent contrivance of Mr Cutten, the engmeei.

The Teviot dredge's piO3gects look bright for another good wash-up this week. Up to the end of last week this dredge has been working 14 weeks on the Roxburgh Lead claim, and has washed up 12 times, securing 5820z, or over £2200, which proves the value of this claim.

The Gold King dredge is working out in tho river, opposite Borton and White's old claim, where splendid gold was obtained. The manager intended shifting tho dredge higher up, but the rxver was too low. He has not got bottom yet.

July 28.

There is a high wind blowing to-day, which is hkeiy to bring away the snow and cause the rjver to ri3°.

There is little stirring in mining matters. All the dredge.* are working.

Theie is a. good deal of disappointment among local shareholders over the likelihood of thi- Main Lead Company going into liquidation, as the claim has never had a trial. The Jubitea dredge is working steadily, and is likely to open out on better ground ca the spot where she has been shifted to.
