The river was 2ft sin above the normal mark at Alexandra yesterday morning, and the weather was niild. The warm weather is causing a good deal of conjectuie as to whether the river is likely to rise, and the opinion is excressed by tome that if there is much snow on the low-lying lands the heat will soon bring it down, with the inevitable result of a rise in the riv>r, which will also have the effect ol causing the drift to travel for a time.
