The following cable has boon received from the Agent-general, dated London, 26th July. —
" The mutton market is firm. The average price of Canterbury i« 3jd ; Dunedin, Southlaud, and AY. MX. Company, d^d ; other North Island, 3hd. Canterbuiy ewes. 3d ; River Plate, 3UI. L.imb i<= very linn, and in good demand. Average pute, New Zealand Canterbury brand, 4^d; New Zealand, other than Canteibury, 4;>d. Beef is firm The supplies of American chilled die small. Xew Zealand hinds, sid ; foiesj id. Hemp is rising, and in better demand for distant deliveries. New Zealand, good fair Wellington grade, on spot. £29 per ton ; August-October shipment, £28. There is no alterai.on in cocksfoot seed since last week. Wool is firm, and thrre is good competition foi all descriptions. The fall experienced at the opening in crossbreds has been recovered."
