DUNTROON.
July 19.— During the past three weeks we have had vnud nearly evcrv cla> -cold, "southwesterly wind. Fiosts so tfir have been very light, but very constant, very few nights having passed ■without frost. Ploughing has been very little retarded this winter, excepting during the early parts of this month, when it .vas too wet to voik the ground. Stock of all kinds arc doing well, and »v eaily rprmg is expected.
Volunteers.— The local coips held their last parp.de in Orr's Hall to-night, as the Defence Hal! 13 r.o-.v finished, and 2* to be opene 1 officially 0..1 tl:r> 24th :11st. with a bazaar in aid of the hall funds. The Iwzanr ought to bo a Rsoat success, as both the ladies of Duntroon and the \ohinteers have worked hard for it for many months. The surrounding farmers have been also good in giving grain, etc. I hear that a resident of Kurow is endeavouring to get up an infantry corps in Kurow. Should he succeed, pnd I hope he will, Waitaki County will be well protected. Rabbits —Trapping is now pretty well played out in this district, only a few rabbits going away at piesent. The price per pair is 7cl at the lailway station.
