O p'oud they rr.de oot, an" they looked na b« hind But thp kind wizard water, O dinna. ye uxindWhen the ship she rade oot wj' the wind in he teeth, How it glinted abcon, but it sabbit aneath! O we gave an' we gave, an' it's no* that w» me, Though the women sit ben the dowie daj through ; Though they greet like the burn when tlii snav/s at the melt For the lads that lie laigh on the ied-drookii veldt. Giey mither, *hat kens when the gnef ;s tin sorost — Grey mither, that grat for the Flowers o' th« Foiest, We ken what ye ken, though pur life's i' the morn. As we stand by the rigs o' the half-gathered corn.
