CHARITY.
Oh, sacred Charity f thy purest robe is seldoa worn — Scarce seen in this most dreary space. The stars look down in wonderment, In pity, on this naked world — Xaked, indeed, if void of love, Science may spread her spacious page, around Fair Knowledge smile, her gifts and arts diffuse, But all is vain, vain, when in the balanc weighed. The great Apostle taught in burning words: I am a cipher, dispossessed of all If I Lick that great, that better pa-rt, That g'.onous, heaven-born gift of sacred love.' 'Tis God-appointed, to put on that robe — 'Tis His divine command; He hath ordained the robing room, And beckons us inside its holy walls, In full regalia, to issue forth Into a %%orld of toil and pain; Then shall we shadow forth in some ininut« degree His holy life, His lovety character — The Upnolder of worlds on worlds — The Man of Nazareth, and the First, Great, G!orious Cnuse of all. — Elvina Rosetta. Redan, March, 1902.
