UPPER WAIPORI ALLUVIAL GOLD DREDGING COMPANY.
The annual meeting of shareholders in the Upper Waipori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company was held at the company's office at noon on Monday. A bare quorum of shareholders attended, and Mr Thomas Brydone (chairman of directors) presided. The following report for the year ended December 31, 1901, was submitted by the directors :— " The result of the year's operations is not equal to that of the previous year, the dividends paid amounting "to £720, as against £960. The dredge and appliances are in efficient working order, and as far as your directors can foresee the prospects of the current year are promising. Messrs Thomas Brydone and Alexander Bathgate are the retiring directors. Both are eligible, and offer themselves for re-election. The auditor (Mr Thomas Callender) offers himself for re-election.'' The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, made short reference to the latter, and said that there was every prospect of the dredge being on ground that would give as good returns as were at present being obtained for a considerable time yet. The dredge some eight or ten years' work before it yet to work out the claim. Mr Melland seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Haggitt, seconded by Mr A. M. Hogg, the retiring directors (Messrs Brydone and Alex. Bathgate) were re-elected, and the retiring auditor (Mr Thomas Callender) was also re-elected on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Hazlett.
