fhe matoh Dunedin No. 1 v. Grange was ylayed on rhe Caledonian ground. Grange, winning the toss, elected to take advantage of the fine wicket prepared by Caretaker Sanderson. The first wicket fell with the score at 4, but on Stuart and Downes becoming associated a good stand was made, and the score was taken to 50. At this stage Stuarfc was well caught in the slips off Wilson after compiling 33 by nice cricket, though both batsmen should have been run out on two or (hree occasions, but owing to rather wild returns they escaped. The remaining batemen made no stand against the bowling of Carver and Wilson, J. Downes, who was the seventh wicket to fall, being the only other double-figure contributor, making 19 by patient batting. The innings closed for 64, Wilson securing four wiokete for 8 runs and Carver five for 15. Dunedin, on going in to bat, made a bad start, as T. Downes lowered Fleming's etumps «vith a good one first ball. Paris and M'Kenzie then became a^ociafced, and this pair look the 3 core to 33 by pationt play, when M'Kenzie in going for a hi* was bowled, having contributed 21 by good cricket. Paris followed soon after for a well-compiled 14. Druunn, who cam^ i.ft\l. made 10, and then had an appeal for lbw ?iven against him. With eight wickets down or 60 it was anyone's game, but Fielden and Courtis were ecjual to the occasion, Fielden scoring 7 and Courtis 15 (not out), and the innings closed for 86 runs. Duuwlin thus won by ?2 runs. T. Downes. who secured nine out of the ton wicket i for 62 runs, bowled splendidly. The Opoho met and defeated Dunedin No. 3at Opoho by 47 rune. Opolio. batting first, totalled 90 runs, of which R. Adam made 23, Doig 16, and M'Nair 12. Tho Dunedin (with eight men) could only total 43, of which Kerr claimed 21 by good cricket. None of the others reached double figures,- Coombes (four wickets for 17) and Sharp (four for 26) bowled splendidly for Opoho, aa did Sangster for the Dunedin. . The Hendley met and defeated the Roslyn on the Oval. Roslyn, batting first, could only reach 38 against the splendid bowling of Hamilton, who secured seven wicket* for 14 runs. When time was called the Hendley had five wickets down for 111, thus winning by five wickets and 73 runs. Good form waa shown for the winners by JaCkson (23), Collie (24. not out), D. Torranee (30, not out), Cameron (10), and Hamilton (10). The unfinished match Dunedin No. 1 v. Privateers was concluded on Friday night. The Privateer', with six wickets down for 56. resumed batting. ITeley, who had 25 runs to his credit, added another 4, and t.hen lost his wicket. Walker contributed 12 by steady batting, and M'Glashan (10, not out) also reached double figures, the innings closing for 90. Wilson secured the last three wickets for 19 run*. Dunedin thus won by 62 nine.
The match Dunedin No. 2 v. Privateers was played o;i the Asylum ground. Dunedin, batting first, totalled 121, D. Wilkie (28). Stalker (23), Moore (22), Ackroyd (21) all batting well for their runs. M'Glashan and Floyd bowled best for the Privateers. The Privateers, on going into bat. responded with 81. M'Glashan (17>. J. Miller (13). East (12', W. Floyd <10i all teaohing double figures. Stalker (four for 21). Thomson (two for 29). Bennett (two for 21). nnd Foster (one for 8) secured the wickets for Dunedin.
