A MASONIC AVELCOME.

The Caigill Kilwmning Lodge, No. 632, S.C., held a social in the Aug'ican schoolroom, Port Chalmeis, on Friday evening to celebrate the return from South Afuca of Bro. Donald M'Donald, a seigeant of the second New Zealand contingent. The mtenor of the building was tastefully decoiated, trophies of flags being grouped at intervals. The stage was curtamedm, devoted to the piupose of a supper room. The catering, in the efficient hands of Miss Fairhe, left nothing to be desired. There was an excellent pttendance o£ the brethren of the lodge and their lady friends, fully 50 couples being piesent, while many of the lodges in the district were well iepre«ented, and apologies vere offeied for the unavoidable absence of the R.AW Bio. J. Goie. Di-tnct Cnand Master, S.C , New Zealand South, the R.W. Bio. T. S. Giaham. District Master. E.C, Otago, and tha R.AV. Bio. Rev. AY. Ronaldson, Grand Superintendent, N.Z.C., Otago. ment Bro. M'Donald was addiessed, 8t the request of the R.W. Master Bro. R. Mitchell, by V.W. Bro. Charles de L. Graham, D.D.G.M. Otago and Southland, E.C. (who was accompanied by several of the District Grand officer*) and W.M. of the Port Chalmeis Marine Lodge, No. 942, E.C. Bro. Graham assured Brc. M'Donald that his career in South Afric hadi been anxiously watched by the members of the Port lodges, who all heartily rejoiced at his successes in the field, his consequent promotion, and his safe return to his family and friends. Bio. M'Dona'd made an appropriate reply, and dancing was resumed, Bio. J. Murray contributing some really excellent bagpipe music.
