At a meeting of the Auckland Fruitgrowers' Union, it was decided to protect against the inti eduction this sesHoii of any legislation affecting the suppression of the c»dlm moth. It was contended thai the finding of the Dunedm Onfeience w<imisleading, and that only 10 per cent, of the delegates were practical commercial fruitgrowers ; that the composition of the committee appointed at that conference was not representative of fruit-growers nor of the respective parts of the colony in proportion to the importance of the fruit industry. Further legislation should be delayed until the results of the Government experiments are known. A Native named Wirermi Pura has been sentenced at Auckland to 10 years' imprisonment for assaulting a girl under 12 years of age.
