BURIED BY A FALL OF EARTH. TWO MEN KILLED.
AUCKLAND, June 20.
"A shocking accident occurred at the "waterworks excavation at Nihotupu shortly before 10 this morning, by which two men, named Hugh Fulton and William Smythe, host their lives through falls of earth and rocks. The accident took place on No. 12 contract, at which five men were working, the two deceased and three men named Evans, Rosier, and Parker. Evans saw a great fall of earth and rocks bury Fulton and Smythe, and at once went into Waikomiti to &end the news to town. The bodies have not yet been recovered, but there is hardly any doubt that the men have been killed. Fulton was con""■—Jlio? for the section* aad. caaae from Kau-
kapakapa. Smythe, who was 19 years of age, came from Nihotupu. All the men available were at once set to work to recover the bodies, which were unearthed about 4p.m. under about 200 tons of debris, life, of course, being extinct. Fulton was a married man with seven children.
