Roslyn v. Wakari

The abo%e teams met at Wakari Park before a fair crowd of spectators, and for the sixth consecutive timo Roslyn were returned The winners after a hard-fought game. Roslyn won the toss, and decided to play down bill, D. M 'Milieu setting the ball in motion. Tho kick was well returned by Dobson. il'Dougall obtained possession, and transferred to his forward?, who took play well into Roelyn's goal, but without result, as Galder relieved with a hard gick. Roslyn forwards took the ball well down the field, when S. Brown sent in a fast shot which Mureott just failed to leach, a goal kick being the result. A series of f;i°?t rushes were indulged in by both bides, until G. M'Millan, in an effort to clear bis goal, fouled the ball, Roslyn being awarded a penalty, from which Dobson secured a goal. From this to halftime Wakari made strong efforts to score, but without avail. On turning round, it vat thought that Wakari would just about win, but the Roslyn, especially the backn, played with determination. In the middle of the spell Doherty secured the ball and initiated a fine passing rush, and with the aid of the Brown brothers on the right wing took the ball into Wakari's goal, where Lothian, in trying to save, threw the ball against one of his own players, and Robertson scored ngain for Roslyn. From thio out the issue was never in doubt, the game ending : Roslyn ~. 2 goals Wakari ... Nil. MOE^INGTOX V. NOETHERX. The above teams played their return match at Morninglon, which resulted in a win for the home team by 4 goals to 3. Owing to tho heavy rains, the ground was extremely slippery, but thin did not prevent the game from being faii-ly fast, especially in the second spell, when the forwards of both sides played hard games. Mornington, winning the toss, Siedeberg kicked off for Northern. Play was fairly even for some time, until Mornington scored, when the Northern livened up, and attacked hard, their efforts resulting in Irvine nutting in a beautiful screw kick. Shortly before half-time Chadwick, by following up fast .- scored the Northern's second goal. On changing ends the Northern continued to attack, and a good forward rush ended in another goal being scored. At this stage the Mornington forwards played a brilliant game, completely nmothering the opposing backs, and scoring three goals in quick succession. Towards the end of the game the Northern forwards 3>layed a hard game, making strenuous efiorts to score, but the Mornington backs, •who were all playing; a good defensive game, .■were able to beat them back, and the game «nded : Mornington... 4 goals Northern... 3goab. SOTTTHEBN V. GEEEN ISLAND. The 'above match was played at Green Island in the presence of a fair numbei of spectators.
