Stoccado, taking up the running, came into the straight ahead of May Bruce, David Garrick, and Lady Penzance, the last-named having by now picked up her lost ground. Below the distance David Garrick challenged the Australian, and quickly taking Ris measure, came right, away, and, despite a challenge by Lady Penzance, won easily by two lengths. Stoccado was third, three lengths behind the second, with Herminius fourth, and May Bruce fifth. Time for the two miles and a quarter, 4min 6 l-ssec.
