THE D.J.C. SECRETARYSHIP

At a meeting of tho Dunedin Jockey Club it was resolved that Mr H L. James be voted a bonus of £25. and that the incoming committee be recommended to appoint him as secretary to the club. Mr James has? been acting-secretary to the D.J.C. since the death of his father, the late Mr Sydney James, and in conducting the business ot the club was his father's right-hand man for a number of years. The appointment is sure to be a popular one, and the incoming committee will act wisely when they place Mr H. L. James in the cp-cr«taryial chair of the Dunedin Jockey Club.
