♦ LONDON, April 2. It is officially reported that the plagufl at Capetown is incieasingly virulent. April 4. Of 316 cases of pkgue at Capetown, there have been 117 deaths, including 22 Europeans. Apiil 5. Five plague corpses were discovered at Capetown yesterday Twelve fresh cases were reported. incliid.n.g six Europeans. BRISBANE, April 2. The child Lily Shearer has died from plague. April 7. James Harris, a member of the sixth contingent, was removed from Lytton Camp sutlering from suspicious illness to-dayv The case has been declared one of plague. April 8. Mrs Harris, mother of Saturday's patient-, has developed plague. Mrs Buchanan, of Petrie terrace, has been attacked by plague. PERTH. April 3. Butler, tke plague patient, is dead.

The Collectors of Customs have received a telegram from the SeeretaTy of Customs to the following effect: — The followiug instruction ha^s been issued to Port Health Officers throughout the colony: — ''In view of thp alleged danger to workmen arising from the tarring of the face of the wharves, this may be discontinued, but in pl?ce of this vessels must be moored by wire rone tarred ni«r a length of at least one foot beyond the side of the vessel, and the same at the pier end. Fenders and fender slings are al-xi to be tarred. — J. Malcolm ]\la=on." Officers of Customs are to draw th° attention of the Port Health Officer to any want of compliance with this.
