Possibly the best course will be to convene a public meeting for the purpose of appointing a local committee, hut you must be the best judge of the course to be adopted. No doubt the ladies in your district will be glad to cooperate with any committee you may appoint. I am sending a copy of this circular to all mayors and chairmen of county councils throughout Otago, and in some cases it may be desirable that a mayor and county chairman should take cojijoint action. Whether this be so or not I trust that our united efforts may result in the erection of a memorial worthy of its, object, and of which the people of Otago for generations to come may be justly proud. I enclose some subscription lists, and shall be happy to send you a further supply at any time.
