DEEP STREAM AMALGAMATED COMPANY.
The Deep Stream Company, which last month' had a very satisfactory wash up, and had a large paddock opened out this month, with prospects of a good return for the month, has" suffered through the floods. The claim manager reports to the secretary that the first flood in the river was experienced on Thursday last, and after a hard fight the paddock was saved from being; swamped, but not beifore. several feet of water had risen in the paddock.; This was pumped) out and work recommenced next day, but on Saturday morning a second flood came, and in: order to avert disaster the manager cut the bank away and filled >the paddock. At the time of writing there was a great flood in the river, the water stretching right across the valley, all woiking plant, pipes, valves, etc., set round the paddock on the surface being under water. Later advices report that the river was going down fast, and the manager lipped to get the ptirnps started on .Tuesday,and commence repairing the damage.
