SATURDAY'S MATCHES. SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.
Caeisbrook A v. Albion-. This match was commenced at Carisbrook on Saturday'under favourable conditions. The ground was in splendid condition notwithstanding the heavy rain at the beginning of the week. Albion, winning the toss, sent in TJttley and Black to face the bowling of Fisher and HarkiiGss. With the score at 6, i/ttiey lipped one into the slips, which was held by Fisher. Oummings, in trying to drive one of Fisher's, mishit the ball, and was caught
at cover. Black and Alexander then took ths score to 24, when Fisher got a good ball past the former. E. Gibson came in, and immediately started to force 'the runs, 30 and 40 going up quickly: Austnurelieved Fisher, and' in his first over Alexander made a poor stroke at a short ball, being caught at point. Corbett and Williams were dismissed very quickly by Harkness. Permin was bowled at 52, and' at 59 E. Gibson cut one to Burt, which was accepted, and he retired for a well-played 22. Harkness bowled Spence and Aris in his last over, and the innings closed for 67. Broad' and Siedeberg were the first pair for Carisbrook, Corbett opening the bowling to the latter, who was dismissed off the last ball of the over, being well caught by Spence at cover. G. G. Austin came in, and both batsmen started to pile on the runsj Permin's bowling being very expensive. With the score at 39, Spence went on, and Austin played his first ball into hi& wicket. Fisher took his place, but at 48 was clean bowled by Corbett! Mills only saw 5 runs added, when, in trying to hook a short one from Spence, he got out lbw, without scoring. Liggins" and Broad carried the score to 88, the former then' being splendidly caught by Aris off TJttley. The same bowler also captured Rattray's wicket at 106. Burt, the next man, made 17 out of 20 very quickly, before he was caught off Corbett. E. J. Austin came in, and was, with Broad, not out at the call of time, the score standing at 127 for seven wickets. Broad, who went in first, compiled 56, the outcome of really good cricket, his play all round the wicket being' very sound. The following are the scores : — - Albion. — First Innings.
