TRIAL OF JIMMY GOVERNOR.
SYDNEY, November 22. . .The foial of Jimmy Governor has begun. Counsel for the prisoner submitted a plea in bar, and asked that accused be acquitted. He based the plea on the ground that Jimmy., having been outlawed, could not plead in the usual way. Practically he was convicted by outlawry of the offence in. the indictment". The sheriff could take and execute him without further pro- , cess. The judge rejected the plea, as the j local law provided for an ordinary trial even in outlawry. Prisoner then pleaded Efot guilty. The trial' is proceeding. * November 23. Jimmy. Governor was found guilty, and ; sentenced to death. In the course of a statement,- he said that while he, his wife, and.. Joe were talking- to Mrs , Mawbey and ' Miss Kerr they taunted him about his. ■white- -wife. ' He lost his temper, and killed. ; them, but did nothing after that. After- j •wards he arranged to say that his wife and J Joe -were not present when the murders were, committed.
