Notes from Tuapeka.

(From Our Vv ethebstones Correspondent.) November 19. — There ought to be no scarcity of water for mining purposes tor the next few months, judging by the quantity of rain and, snow that has fallen lately. The Golden Ciescent Company have been.' elevating night and day, and are getting some lough gold in the giound they are working at present, averaging about 15oz a week. In the firss two weeks ending' November 10 they .got a little over 20oz, of which 13 pieces weighed) Vkiwt; the largest turning the scale at 2dwt. In the last paddock they stripped there was a. strange foimation. They found a ridge of reef, like the main bottom, shaped like a bridge about a chain in width, running almost right; across the gully, with cement on both sides. It appears to be very deep, foi a shaft ha.s been. sunk on the upper or west side to a. depth of 80ft without bottoming, as there was too much, water to contend with. The main range on ihe some side is only a few hundred yards away. The Golden Kise commenced elevating their preseat paddock on Thursday, the Bth inst. They washed down on the following Saturday, and one of the shareholders told me that they got nesrly 14oz. That is pretty fair for a little over two days. After washing down last Saturday, they stopped the water at & p.m., as they; v.-ere afraid of bein£ flooded, for it had been, i pouring rain all day, and the man whose shift it was had to stop in the claim till midnight to watch that the flood water did not break in. Tho dredge commenced working again on the 7th mst. after putting the new crown wheel in place.
