TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON IN THE •TAIEEI DISTRICT, THE PUREBRED CLYDESDALE STALLION THE MACKENZIE. pedigree; ■ THE MACKENZIE is a bay horse, six years old, stands nearly 17hds high, with rare feet and legs, grand action, and was bred by the owner. Sire, Lion King, by ±>ritish Lion (imp.), out of Scotch Annie \imp.). Dam, Glasgow Maggie, by Nimmo's Prince (imp.), g-sire Prince Charlie (imp.) ; Glasgow Maggie's dam,. Taieri Lass (imp.); Lion King's sire, -British Lion, g-sire Argyle ('2067, vol. vi), g-g-sire Largo Jock (444, vol. i), out of Jean by Sam, winner of the Kintyre 'premium for several seasons. THE MACKENZIE was first prizetaker at the Taieri Show in 1894, in a big ring of year-,, lings, and first at Dunedin Show the same year, beating the first prize colts of Oamaru and Invercargill Shows. He was also first at the Taieri Show in 1895, and first at both Dunedin and Taieri Shows in 1896. THE MACKENZIE comes from the purest strains of Clydesdale blood this side of the line, and is getting stock of the very highest quality. He travelled the Taieri as a three-year-old, and his fillies were first "and third at Taieri Show, and first, second, and third at Dunedin Show in 1899, and it was ' allowed that they were as fine a lot of fillies as had ever been seen on a Duneain show ground. The first prize filly was sold for lOOgs on the show ground. She went to Southland, and was first as a two-year-old filly, and champion for best mare or filly at Riverton Show in 1899. THE MACKENZIE only travelled a bhort distance, and only servtd 29 mares in 1896, so surely that speaks volumes for his stockgetting. Good paddocking for maros at Is 6d per week. Mare 3 sent by rail, and consigned to -R. Charters,— Mosgiel, < will v be- promptly attended to. All care taken, but no responsibility. Owners of marea at time of first service held responsible. . ■ Early application is necessary, as only a limited number of mares will be -taken. TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON IN THE TAIERI DISTRICT, THE CHAMPION CLYD. A STALLION LORD LYON. PEDIGREE. LORD LYONS sire is the unbeaten horse \ Lord Salisbury, imp. (1207 Clydesdale Stud Book), dam Myrtle, by Prince of Wales (imp.), grand dam Molly M'Kissock (imp. by the late Mr M'Callum), her sire Lord Lyoa (489 C.5.8.). Molly M'Kissock took first prize at Ayr and Dumfries in 1879. Lord Salisbury's sire, Young Conqueror, g-sire Old Conqiieror, g-g-sire Renfrewshire Jock, g-g-g-sire Lofty, g-g-g-g-sire Fancy, g-g-g-g-g-sire Old Clyde, the property of Mr Frame ; dame Darling, by Tintock. . LORD LYON has been shown at Oamaru, Dunedin. Gore, Tapanui, Invercargill, and Taieri, and was first and champion each time shown. He is the, best breeding horse south of Oamaru. At the Taieri, 1839, colts got -by LORD LYON were first and second, and at Dunedin Show in 1899. LORD> LYON colts were first and third, the second colt corningfrorn Oamaru, and LORD LYON fillies were first and third, the second filly coming from Southland, which proves the above to be correct. ' ' LORD LYON is also sire of Flower of Bal-' moral, the mare Mr Patrick gave £100 for at the 1896 Taieri .Show, and whenever mated with a decent mare leaves prize-takers.
