THE BREELONG MURDERS.
CAPTURE OF JIMMY GOVJERNOR
SYDNEY, Octofoer#27.
Jimmy Governor, one of the Breelong blacks, wanted for the recent "murders) was wounded and captured. Jimmy Governor robbed the hut of a man named Wallace. Wallace located theii camp, and a party of settlers watched till the morning, , when they called on him to surrender. Jimmy bolted, and an exciting 'chase followed, in which the black received a shot-gun wound in the back, but^ which is not serious. Jimmy congratulated his capturers, and said the police could not catch a new born calf. Jimmy had a Winchester rifle, but it jammed. For the last three weeks he had lived chicly on honey. He was very weak. Joe leit him on the 17th, and is hiding about 50 miles from where Jimmy was captured.
October 28.
Jimmy Governor harf made a long statement. He says the Mawbeys were murdered because they were always taunting his wife that she had married a blackfellow. He said Joe shot M'Kay aru!^ Filzpatrick. The police narrowly oiissed capturing them several times. He >vaa tired of being out, and intended •to surrender.
Miss Jessie Paterson has been recommended for the mistress-ship of the Tarara (Catlins) School.
Mr W. Shore and family left Queenstown last Monday morning (says the Wakatip Mail) to take up their naw residence at Gore.
