THE C.J.O. MEETING. !
Here, again, the problem is much the same — namely, as to what will win the Cup and Derby. It is not a popular double, ibut if I can select the -winners of these events ; my followers will be on velvet for the meeting, unless they play dt up recklessly. When the weights for the New Zealand ,Cup appeared i took Malatua and Dundas to furnisili the .winnar, and, though at one time afraid of Sant Ilario, on tlve strength 'of information as to his good .work and improved condition; I never forsook my original pair. This 'places one in a handy position.' now. Saavt Ilari'O 1 has gone ou"t, unluckily, and I Lave only to say which of my twos! new prefer. , This, again, gives me no. anxiety. aM'aiatua's preparation -has been patchy, from, all we can learn. Dundas, on the other hand, has kept going- long enough to be well wound up, and I pick DUNDAS in one. If ycu want my reasons, 'they are no secret. Dundas ran a public trial in the Great Autumn which is quite v gioocl enough for me. All that is needed further is 'to know that he is well, and on that heading there is an abundance of assurance. lum aware fcliat Malama, beat him in their mile and a-haif gallop. lam also aware 'that Malatua carried less than his weight, and Dundas considerably more, and in the race Dundas has only to run honestly to defeat Malatua. What about the others? Well, I prefer Tortulla, Ideal ,and Sfcrathnairn for places, but do not think either can ■win, though, mark you, several good judges tell me Tortulla will win and win easily. As for the Derby, it looks like .a race between 'Renown and Military, and if so I nmst vote for-RENOWN, as a recent winner. This is all I propose to say by way of anticipating the CJ. C. results, exc&p'ting to say -that I like Goldspur for the Stewards' Handicap, reckoning that bhe candidates he 'will have to foeat are Pampero and. St. Denis. -
