EEITEDICTS' BALL, BOUND HILL.

Dead Emmeline, — The annual ball of the benedict's of Sound Hill came off on Friday evening-, September 21, and proved a success in every respect, fully 30 couples taking the floor for the Grand March. The hall was nicely decor&tecf, the supper tables well spread, and the music all that could be desired. Messrs T. Couling (violin), T. Earnsay (violin), T. Lawrence (piccolo), and Miss Couling (piano) provided excellent music, and Messrs D. Smith, C Morgan, J. Young, and J. Butler acted as M.C.'a. The catering, in the hands of Host and Hostess Crowly, gave satisfaction to all. Dancing was kept up till the small hours of the morning. GOBGE BOAD BACHELOBS' BAI<L,

Dear Ernmeline, — The bachelors of Gorge Koad held their ball in the lower school hou3e , on the sth mst., and. it proved a great succeaa in every way. Great credit is due to the committee for the manner in which the ball was conducted. It comprised Messrs 3?. H. M'Cann (sec. and treasurer), ~K. ll\Lay, W- , Hogan, M. M'Callam, H. Swain, J. Mimroe, and D. Munioe. The loom was beautiuilly decorated with evergreens. The only drawback to the complete success of the affair was thafc there was not sufficient room for dancing-. Music was supplied by Messrs Woods, Perriara, , and Patterson (violin), while Mr Hardy made an efficient M.C During the evening Mr M'Lay (chairman of the committee) in a few well-chosen words, presented to Mr Hardy, on. behalf of the bachelors, a handsome silvermounted pipe as a recognition of the services he had rendered as M.C. for the quadrille asi sexnbly and at the ball, and Mr Hardy , briefly returned, thanks. Songs were ren- ! dered at intervals during the evening by Miss .Walsh, Miss Peiriam, Mrs Stott, Messrs Ryan, | and C. jM'Callam, and M.x Williams contributed I a capital comic recitation. The catering, in tha hands of Mr Dempster, was all that could ha | desired. The grand march was led off at 3 ■ o'clock by Mr Perkins and Miss Manson, over 130 couples taking part in it.
