CLEARING SALE AT "THE MAINS," NEAR GORE.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report having held a clearing sale at the above farm on Friday last on account of Mr W. H. Paterson. A large number of buyers were present from all parts of the district. Bidding throughout the sale was spirited, and competition keen. Mr Paterson must be congratulated on the way everything was arranged and laid out, the arrangements being so good that we were enabled to get through the large catalogue in quick time, the sale being finished by 3.30 p.m. The horses were a. fine lot, and their condition reflects credit on the owner. The harness was all in splendid order and excellently got up. Horses, sheep, cattle, implements, and harness all sold at satisf p ctory prices. The following are some of the principal sales : — Sheep — 399 hoggets at lls lOd; horses — grey mare, 6yrs, £50; bay mare, £36; bay mare, 6yrs, £47; bay gelding, £49 ; bay mare, £35 ; buggy horse, £15; bay filly, 3yrs, £35 10s; bay filly, 3yrs, £34 ; two-year-old colts and fillies from £16 to £17 ; draught foal, £16 ; implements — Reid and Gray waggon, £40; ploughs from £12 to £14; buggy, £36 ; drays, £12 to £15 ; cattle, harness, etc., at same satisfactory prices.
