THE DISCHARGE OF MEAT STEAMEJRS STOPPED.
LONDON, June 18. The dockers' strike has stopped the discharge of Australian meat steamers.
THE ASHANTI TROUBLE.
A RELIEF COLUMN STARTS.
LONDON, June 20. Captain Wilson's column defeated the Ashantis near Kwissa. Captain Wilson lost 10 killed and 27 wounded.
June 21. The Ashantis surrounding Kumassi are short of ammunition.
June 22. The natives report that Sir F. Hodg-
son, Governor of the Gold Coast, has been wounded in the shoulder, and that eight officers were killed during a sortie from the fort.
The Ashantis demand the withdrawal of the Governor permanently, and that there be no future Governors.
They also desire freedom to indulge in the traffic in slaves.
The Golden Stool has been seen in their j camp. .
June 24,
Major C. Burroughs, with 450 West African troops and a field gun, has reinforced Colonel Wilcocks, who is advancing to the relief of Kumassi.
June 25,
The supplies collected at Prahsu justifying the resumption of the march of the relief column, it started thence for Kumassi on Saturday.
