HOKITIKA.
A large number of claims have, been taken up round about this place, and a deal of prospecting is being done. Extensive prospecting operations are being carried on at Perry's Reward claim, and at Tucker Flat, and in both the claims the results are said to be highly satisfactory. The West^poast Times says: — "A party of nipn prospecting the Kokatahi JRiver, above the Gorge, -last week, got excellent prospects. They were away five days, leaving on Monday and ieturning on Friday. They report that there is a large extent of likely-looking country, flat? and beaches, whilst in all probability payable quartz reefs will be met with."
