" TOURIST TICKETS "

from the Ist of November to tho 31st of - March, both for the whole of New Zealand and for each island respectively. These have proved of very little xise to people Who cannot obtain leave from their avocations during the period to which these tickets were restricted. In order to remove this disability and to enable all classes to have an opportunity of visiting the various attractive portions of the colony, I have decided to remove the restrictions altogether so far as any particular period is concerned, and to make these tickets available at any tims intending travellers apply for them during the jyear. I expect, as a result of this concession, that the tourist traffic will rapidly grow. The increased number of travellers will doubtless, after seeing for themselves what attractions the country offer, spread the information wherever they travel, and this information will, passing from one to another, as a snowball, increase as it rolls and gather fresh grist to our railway mill. Fresh tourists will prove a, valuable advertising medium for the colony, as well as good customers. Our own colonists will now have opportunities to visit points of interest that have never previously been at their disposal, and the enjoyment of which were practically restricted to travellers from beyond the colony. They will not be able to say that", through lack of liberal arrangements on-the railways, they were prevented from seeing the different sights throughout the colony that are worth visiting both for health and pleasure purposes.
