TUAPEKA MIKING NOTES.

March 19. — If the dry weather r>.e\ ailing lately had continued much longer the saucing and elcvatinn claims would soon have been
idle. As it was, the Blue Spur mine stopped work for want of water one daj last week.
The Golden Rise had about just sufficient water in their dam to finish their present paddock. After finishing they intended to shut down for a fortnight, during which time it was proposed to go to town to see the contingent off, and move their plant as well. However, I fancy last Friday's rain will have given both claims a supply of water again. The dredge is working steadily acros.s the flat, from side to side. Every cut taken out, she comes nearer the Wetherstones road.
The Golden Crescent has finished the race at last. The pipes required to finish the syphon across the Waipori River arrived at Lawrence on the 9th inst. They were taken out next -day, together with several bngs of sawuust, and put in at once. The water was running in the lace about the beginning of last week. The company expect to be at work elevating this week. I expect to hear of them getting a good many ounces of gold from their first paddock when they wash down.
