February 12. — Those engaged in the agricultural line ate at present lying on their oar^ waiting patiently for tho oiGps to mature and ripen. The crops so . far making very slow progress indeed. Yet I foci- safe m saying that with favourable har- | vest weathe 1 ' thf returns may be expected to ba up to the averpge yield of former seasons. Pastoral. — Complaints are coining in on all hands about the dragging season that sheepowners and shearers have had owing to the wet and stoimy weather that we are passing through. Local Industry. — I am pleased to note that an industiy thpt I have been advocating for years has now arrived at the piactical working stage. I lefer to qur fellmongery, owned by Messrs Eeid and Brooks, two shrewd local men, who with "a staff of assistants are hard at it putting the large quantities of wool on hand tliroujrh the washing process, and I am sure v/ 3 all wish them success in their enterprise.
