At Bumside fco-day about 200 head of this class were oftered. The entry included a line of magnificent, almost fat, shorthorn bullocks (dehorned) from North Canterbury. These realised £7 per head. First-class threo and four-year-old store bullocks brought from £5 10s to £6, two-year-olds £3 10s to £i 103, and heifers (same age) £2 10s to £3 10s. Country Sales.— Maclean and Co. repoit having held their fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Fnday la-st. The entry was a fair one, and, I i.rder good bidding, all lots offered, found I buyeis under the hammer at the following rates:— Sheep at 13s 6cl to 13s; lambs at lls 3d; ewe 3 and lambs at 7s 2d; bullocks to £6; pigs at 13s 6d to 6s 6d. They yarded and sold [ 1567 sheop and lambs, 3 head cattle, 18 pigs, and I sundries, and privately, since last sale, 1220 sheop and lambs, 193 head cattle, 25 pigs> Stronach Bros, and Morris report having held their v.sual monthly sale at Mr Roger.' s yard?, Evarsclaie, 0:1 Tuesday, when theie v;as a largo entry 01 cattle, and also a fair number of i sheep and. pigs. Competition was fairly brisk I throughout, and all offered found buyers at I satisfactory prices.— — Dalgety and Company i (Limited) report having held their fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday, the 17th inst., when they yarded 1534 sheep and 35 head of I cattle. There was a large attendance of buyers, I and nearly the whole of the entry changed ! hands at good prices. We sold crossbred ewes : (young) at 13s 5d to 13s Gd, do (full-mouthed) at i lls 6cl, crossbred wethers at 12s 9d to 13s 6d, lambs at 9s 2d to lls. The same firm also report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr Thomas Potter (Ashton Vale, near Clarks) on Tuesday, 19th inst. At th's sale the small grazing run presently occupied by I Mr Totter was offered, but it failing to bring I the reserve, was parsed in, and the property is '< now for private sale. The sale of sheep was then proceeded with, and, under spirited comI petition, the whole flock was disposed of at the j following prices: — 346 4 and 6-tooth crossbred wethers at 13s sd, 382 4, 6, and 8-tooth crossbred ewes at 13s 3d, 142 full-mouthed crossbred ewes at lls Gd, 152 2-tootb crossbreds at lls, 234 lambs at 9s 2d, 35 culls at 6s sd ; cattle and implements at satisfactory prices. Wool.- -The fourth sale of the season will be held at the Agricultural Hall to-morrow, when Ihe quantity of bales offered by the various selling brokers will be 2106. Owing to xhe fall m the market, it is anticipated that prices will show a decline on those mling at last sales. Sheepskins.- — Fair-sized catalogues were submitted at the sales yesterday, when bidding was I ar imated, and prices showed a slight advance ' on last week's. Rabbitskins. — As is always the case at this season of the year, the consignments coming I forward are moderate, but a'l offered are eagerly competed for at full rates. Hides. — There i& a splendid demand for all description*. Well-flayed heavy ox are worth 4d to Hd; medium, 3d to 3^d; light and in- ! ferior, 2d to 2Jd per Ib. i Tallow. — The market remains firm at last ', week's prices, which are: — Prime rendered, 103 6d to 18s; medium, 13a to 15s; inferior, lls to i 12s 6d ; rough fat, 10s to 13s 6d per cwt. Wheat. — The market remains in a depressed state, and the volume of business passing is very small, and is likely to continue so until the new wheat is on the market. Quotations: : Prime milling, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; medium, 2s to I 2s 4d; chickwheat. Is lid to 2s Id per bushel (bags in, terms). Oats find a ready sale at prices fully equal to those ruling last week. Shippers are anxious to sectire all prime lines of short oats, but the supply of these is not equal to the demand. Long oats are not so much sought after, and do not realise the same price. Quotations : Prime short feed and nulling, 2s to 2s Id; medium short feed, Is lOJd to Is lljd; prime I long oats, Is lOd to Is lid per bushel (sacks I extra, net). Barley^ — The market for this ceical continues inactive, and practically no business is pass- ; mgj Chaft. — Although there is no quotable change in the .fiarket, the demand this week is barely as ; good, as last. Deliveries have been on a fairly j large scale. Quotations are: Prime oaten sheaf, !£2 15s to £3 ; medium to good, £2 10s to £2 12s Gd per ton (sacks extra, net). Grass Seed. — Samples of the new crop of ryegrass that have come to hand aie very light, and badly filled, and as buyers' ideas, especially for this class of seed, are extremely low, very few lots have changed hands. Prices are nominally : Farmers' dressed small shotty seed, Is 6d to Is 9d ; do medium to good, Is 4d Ito Is 6d ; do light and inferior, Is to Is 2d per 1 bushel (sacks extra,- net).

the year, including the balance brought forward from last year, amounts to £93.137 Is 4d, and the expenditure to £76,813 3s, leaving a balance of £16,323 18s 4d. From this amount your directors paid an interim dividend in June last amounting to £2812 10s, and recommend that the balance be appropriated as follows: — To carry to reserve fund (which will then stand at £20,000), £5000; to pay a dividend for half-year ending December 31, at the rate of 7.^ per cent, par annum, £2812 10s ; to carry forward to next year, £5698 18s 4d ;— £16,323 18s 4d. Full provision has been made in the accounts for all ascertainable losses to the close of the year. The dividend now recommended, if approved by the shareholders, will be payable at the company's offices immediately after the meeting."
