The fine weather had the effect of bringing out a large number of the public, and competition in most cases was fairly brisk, nearly all the stock yarded changing hands. Sheep. — About 5000 were yarded, mostly ewes and -wethers. Fat wether 3 brought from 13s to 13s 6d ; fat ewes, 9s 9d to 12s 3d ; fat lambs, 10s Id. Two, four, and six-tooth eives sold at from 12s to 13s 6d ; full-mouthed, 10s to 12s 8d ; old, 6s to 8s 7d. Two and four-tooth wethers sold at from lls 6d to 13s 3d ; and a line of pure Romney ewes brought 14s 6d. Lambs realised 7s 6d to 9s 3d. Cattle. — About 150 penned, mostly young. Fat bullocks brought up to £6 10s; cows, to £5 10s; store bullocks, £4 10s to £5 10s; two and three-year-old steers, £2 to £2 10c ; yearlings, 30s to 40s ; milk cows, £4 to £6; dry cows, £2 to £2 10s; calves, up to 255.
