WEST TAIERI RIVER BOARD.

A meeting of the West Taieri River Board, held on the 30th, was attended by Messrs Snow, Cbisholm, Bathgate, Blair, Patrick, G-. Rutherford, and S. Young. The two last named are the new members. It being the first meeting after election, the clerk (Mr John Grant) presided, and asked for nominations for the office of chairman. Mr Blair moved that Mr Snow bo appointed chairman. This was seconded by Mr Chisholm, and carried unanimously. Mr Snow leturned thanks for the continued confidence in him as chairman, he having occupied that position continuously for the last nine years. Mr Rutherford was appointed treasurer, and Mr John Grant was appointed clerk and collector at the former salajrv. Mr Chisholm moved that a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Grant bs recorded in the minutes for the able and satisfactory way he had carried out his duties as clerk and collector to the board. This was seconded by Mr Snow, and carried unanimously. The following were appointed inspectors of the embankment, with power to act : — Mr Snow, from the West Taieri biidge to the Piano paddock; Mr Blair, from Piano paddock to Mr Young's boundary; Mr Young, from his own, boimdaiy to Allanton bridge; Mr Bathgate, from Allanton bridge to boundary of the district. On the motion of Mr Snow, the halfyear's interest on the Government loan (£25 2s sd) and sundry accounts, amounting to 13s 6d, ■were passed for payment. Mr Snow stated that there was only one payment of £125 to make on 31st December, when the £3000 loan would be paid off.
