TERRIBLE BUSH FIRES.
GKEAT DAMAGE DONE.
MELBOURNE, January 29. The worst bush fires for 50 years devastated the Warrnambool district. The whole country between Dunkeld and Mortlake consists of blackened ruins. Millions of acres of grass .and six woolsheds were destroyed. Twenty thousand hheep and hundreds of cattle perished. The damage is estimated at £100,000. The inhabitants fought the flame" heroically, and iv.in ultimately stopped the Ihe. Many r. arrow escapes are reported. One man Is missing.
