ISLA BANK.
January 5. — Most changeable weather is still the rule. There is a great abundance of grass — indeed I never saw anything like it before in this part of the country. The grain crops are making good progiess, but we need not expect an early harvest. Dri«r weather is wanted for the grass and crops. Shearing has also suffered from the wet weather, proving tedious and slow work this season. Turnip sowing is also far behind, and no holidays were taken by those desirious of getting their turnips all in. Where sown this crop has nob done well so far, being kept back by the cold and damp gusts we have experienced. A Sign of Prosperity. — Our district, m com mon with the whole of Otago and Southland, has witnessed a good few marriages of late.
