PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of ratepayers was held at the board's office, Higbcliff. Mr A. Stuart -was appointed chairman of the meeting, there being six ratepayers present. No objections were lodged agftinst closing the road line at Sandymount. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Gunn, seconded by Mr Ross, that the road line and part of road line referred to as proposed to be stopped in the notice calling this meeting in the Otago Daily Times of the 14th November, 1839, be stopped accordingly. — The Chairman declared the motion carried.
The regular monthly meeting of tho Peninsula Road Board v/as held at the board's office, Highcliff, and attended by Messrs Stuart (chairman), Sanderson, Ross, M'Curdy. Riddell, and Gtinn. It was resolved to instruct the surfacemen to resume their duties for another month ; -to continue widening Highcliff road for two weeks; and to work two weeks on the roads in each subdivision. — The clerk reported that a ratepayers' meeting was held to consider objections to closing road line at Sandymount. No objections "were lodged.— The Chairman declared the road stopped. — The Clerk was instructed to write to the Tramway Company requesting them to make good the road at the railway crossing at Musselburgh ; also to write to Mr Haworth, requesting him to cut the trees overhanging the footpath at Anderson's Bay. — Mr Riddell reported that Mr Rutherford had finished the contract at Sandymount, and the work had been passed satisfactorily. — Mr M'Curdy reported that a drain at Shiel Hill, also on the Manse road, required attention. — The inspector wa sinstructed to attend to, this matter at once. — Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £92 18s 2d.
